🔵 Chelsea vs 🔴 Liverpool – Again
Some rivalries never settle. Some ties don’t fade. For the tenth time in Champions League history, Chelsea and Liverpool will meet again — this time in the Round of 16, with the first leg to be played at Anfield on Wednesday 12 March 2053.
The familiarity is suffocating. The last time these two clashed in Europe, Chelsea won 1–0 at Anfield before sealing a 4–0 victory at home to reach the 2025 final. The Blues went on to lift the trophy. This year, they return as holders. Liverpool, meanwhile, are chasing the echoes of a continental legacy dulled by recent missteps.
📊 European Head-to-Head
- Last 10 UCL meetings: Chelsea 9 wins, Liverpool 1 win
- Last knockout tie: Chelsea won 5–0 on aggregate (2025 Semi-Final)
- First Leg: Anfield, 12 March 2053
Despite the dominance of Chelsea in these encounters, there’s no guarantee of repetition. Liverpool remain formidable at home. They’re fourth in the Premier League, still capable of producing moments that tilt the axis of a tie. And if nothing else, Anfield remembers.

🧠 From the Author
There is something cruelly poetic about the draw. Chelsea, so often the tormentors, return to the one place where Liverpool still believe they can write a different script. Whether it unfolds like all the others remains to be seen — but history has a habit of echoing louder in spring.
