Chelsea have received a comprehensive injury update from Head Physio Elliot Piggott-Smith ahead of their crucial UEFA Champions League clash against Real Madrid. Despite a 23% decrease in overall injuries this season compared to expectations, the squad remains stretched with five players currently sidelined.

Current Injuries:

  • Facundo Quiroga – Out for 3 to 4 months with a damaged Achilles tendon sustained during training.
  • Giuseppe Capone – Expected to return in 1 to 2 days after suffering a bruised knee.
  • Pelé – Sidelined for 4 weeks to 3 months due to a broken lower leg, also picked up in training.
  • Joseph Haigh – Dealing with a twisted ankle sustained while on international duty with England, ruled out for 7 days to 2 weeks.
  • Marcelo – Recovering from pulled ankle ligaments picked up during the 5–0 win over Crystal Palace; expected back within 6 days to 2 weeks.

Returnee:

  • Johnny Jenkins – Back to full fitness after overcoming a tight groin suffered in the match against Middlesbrough. He is now in good condition and available for selection.

Despite these setbacks, Chelsea’s medical team remains optimistic, with treatment programs in place and most key players expected to return within a few weeks. The Blues currently sit top of the Premier League table and will hope their strong squad depth continues to deliver results during this critical stretch of the season.
