Chelsea forward Pelé has suffered a major setback after being diagnosed with a broken lower leg, ruling him out for an estimated 4 to 5 months. The injury occurred during a training session following a robust challenge and was confirmed by club physio Elliot Piggott-Smith.

The Brazilian, who has made 6 appearances this season, scoring 2 goals and providing 2 assists, was sent to a specialist to assess the damage. Despite the club’s in-house medical team’s capability, it was decided that further external consultation would be best.

Pelé has been one of Chelsea’s most dynamic attacking players this season. His average rating of 7.13, combined with 2.29 key passes per 90 minutes and a strong physical presence (covering over 14km per match), made him a crucial component of Calin Dimario’s squad.

This injury leaves Chelsea light in attack, especially with winger Jairzinho also nursing a tight hamstring, though the latter is expected to return within days. The club now faces a significant selection dilemma ahead of key fixtures in both the league and Europe.

Pelé’s absence will undoubtedly be felt, and it remains to be seen how the Blues adapt during his prolonged spell on the sidelines.
