Premier Division – 10 May 2051
Man UFC 1–2 Chelsea
Scorers: Kieran O’Sullivan (53’), Mario Cardozo (88’) – Sol Busumbru (58’)
Even as the rain poured down on Old Trafford, Chelsea’s machine-like rhythm never faltered. The champions-elect travelled north already crowned but still hungry, grinding out a 2–1 win against their old rivals thanks to a moment of late brilliance from Mario Cardozo.
It was a match that reflected the very essence of this Chelsea side under their current reign – disciplined, technical, and utterly unforgiving. Kieran O’Sullivan broke the deadlock early in the second half, smashing home a low skidding drive from distance to silence the home crowd.
Manchester United briefly threatened to spoil the script when Sol Busumbru equalised with a sharp finish that clipped the post on its way in, but Chelsea’s control never wavered. When Rui Campanico fumbled a clearance in the dying minutes, Cardozo pounced, curling a deft finish off the upright and in to seal all three points.
The 24-year-old Argentine was sensational throughout, earning Player of the Match honours with his tireless creativity and late match-winning strike. His performance capped off a season of consistency – 46 appearances, 135 key passes, and an 87% completion rate that underpins Chelsea’s metronomic domination.
There was also a proud moment for 15-year-old striker Tony Konneh, who came off the bench in the 72nd minute to make his professional debut. Born in Ealing and a product of Chelsea’s academy, Konneh’s introduction was warmly welcomed by the travelling supporters, a glimpse into the club’s future amidst the relentless excellence of the present.
As the whistle blew, the message was clear: even with the title wrapped up, Chelsea refuse to let standards slip. Cardozo’s late strike didn’t just win the game – it reaffirmed their supremacy.
