Juventus badge Pedro Gomes wins World Footballer of the Year

Juventus and Portugal striker Pedro Gomes has claimed the World Footballer of the Year award after a blistering 2052 season that saw him net an extraordinary 49 goals in 40 appearances, with 15 assists and an average rating of 8.14.

The 26-year-old forward dominated the vote ahead of Eduardo Angione (Atlético Madrid) and Logan Granger (Valencia), continuing a remarkable rise to superstardom since joining Juventus for £68M in 2050.

Gomes’ output this season has been devastating. In Serie A alone, he has already scored 15 goals in 12 matches (8.11 avg rating), having added to his trophy cabinet with the Coppa Italia, Italian Super Cup (2051 & 2052), and a third Serie A title.

Having started his career at FC Porto, Gomes has played in England, Germany, France and Italy, with stints at Chelsea, Hertha Berlin, AS Monaco and Napoli. But it is in Turin that his legacy is being forged.

Across 205 league games, Gomes has now scored 111 goals and assisted 41. Internationally, he has 43 goals in 50 caps for Portugal, and remains the talisman for club and country alike.

The win adds to a growing personal collection that includes: World Golden Ball, GOAL50, European Golden Shoe, Best Player in Europe, and now the World Footballer of the Year.
